Come and create a open weave basket using paper with us at Boston Manor House. Intertwine paper yarns to create a open weave vessel using the basketry technique of random weaving with sumac stitch. Using a mould, you’ll create your own decorative woven vessel as you discover the simplicity and joy of creating your own free-standing form.
This workshop is for ages 16+
The workshop will be led by Joanne Lamb, a local artist with a long history of working with textiles, specialising in woven work. Joanne is currently exploring her practice off the loom, focusing on an appreciation of the natural world and the handcrafted using basketry, natural dyes, and other hand-skills-based techniques to create one-off pieces that celebrate the gifts of the land, the properties of plants, and the innovation of ancestral craftspeople.
